New Management ? Still Awful
The place is supposedly under 'new' management. Nothing has changed since we went in about a year ago and ordered a large portion of spareribs, which turned out to be 4. Yes, 4. At $11.95, that comes to $3 per rib. Please. Last night, we took out a large order, including the ribs. Guess what? Same 4 ribs. Other issues Included mushy wonton in peanut sauce and rather bland Mongolian beef. OK sushi ,though East Gate in Verona does a far better job with their sushi and again, they are not overpriced. But the kicker? Something as small as asking, before we left, if they were certain we'd received white rice with our entrees and crisp noodles with our soup. We were assured we had. Fifteen minutes later, we got home to find out we hadn't. No reason to come back - ever - given that T.S. Ma, does all of it better and more consistently right around the corner. Judging from the empty dining room on a Saturday nite, we're not alone in our feelings.

Are they really still open?
Avoid. I had one bad experience, and was stupid enough to go back. Never again.

Frozen food or mall dining beats this
Service: First of all , the staff is very unattentive. We had to flag down the waiter to ask for our soup to be warmed up because it was served cold. He acted as if we were bothering him. There were 6 employees in the restaurant, and not one of them ever came to the table to check on us. Food: The Sesame Chicken was disgusting. The sauce was so gooey you could use it as wallpaper adhesive! The chicken, (which had to be searched for under the gobs of goo), was deep fried and dried out. When we expressed our dissatisfaction, the hostess informed us that "that is how we make it". So we sent it back and ordered Chicken Pad Thai (which was average) When I asked what vegetables were in the Vegetable Pad Thai the response was: "whatever we have in the back". Why have a menu then!! I can't believe Bamboo is still in business. The quality of the food is sub-par, and the staff could care less about customer service

Poop!
If you have to make choice between the last hotdog at the gas station and this place, go with the hotdog.

skip it! go to dai kichi instead.
I ordered delivery from this place a few times and each time was a nightmare. Against my better judgment I ate in the restaurant with a friend because I wanted sushi and she wanted Chinese (how many decent fusion places are there- at least I knew the sushi wouldn't make me sick). The service was AWFUL. The waiter was rude, rushed us through the meal (I should have known we were in trouble when the appetizers came out within 2 minutes and were so hot we burned our mouths), and KICKED US OUT the minute we finished eating! As we walked out he said, "we open at 11 tomorrow" as if we were going to return after being unceremoniously thrown out! This place had no chance anyway being directly across the street from Dai Kichi, but throwing diners out in Upper Montclair? Good luck, jerks.

Food excellent
I loved the food tonight. Everything we ate was excellent! Stellar food. The staff was lovely and nice. My only complaint was the timing of appetizers vs food was a little off. Some of our party received their main dishes earlier than others in our party which was surprising considering how great the food was. It looks nice, food really was excellent (try tuna tar tar, duck, sesame chix for instance) must have had someone call out sick since the timing was only complaint.

Not great
The food was very disappointing and overly priced. Not a good experience at all. Wouldn't recommend.

Favorite Asian Bistro
Been here a couple times... each time walked out thoroughly delighted. I've been here only for dinner, though I think it's fair to assume that their lunch menu is equally delectable. Everything from their soups/salads/appetizers/entrees was delicious and well-prepared. I've not had a poor experience with service at all, as they've all been quite friendly and prompt. The atmosphere is soothing, great for a nice nightly dinner. All food is best enjoyed with chopsticks, except the complimentary fruit at the end of the dinner - they give you toothpicks for those. All being said, I highly recommend Bamboo.

Mediocre food, bad service, high prices!
Went there with a friend last night and spent $32 for two very mediocre-at-best dishes and terrible service. The server forgot my order for a drink and -never- refilled it even after I waited 10 minutes with it sitting there empty. This is while my friend sat there with no usable eating utensils. Very disappointed. Do not recommend.

Not Great
I live in Montclair and really wanted this place to be good. The food is really, really average. Wish I had better things to say, but in this economy there is no way they last six months.
